2 tbsp Canola Oil
1 medium Onion
1 lb Lean Ground Turkey or Chicken (I use one grocery store package)
3 cloves Garlic, chopped
1 nub Ginger, grated
1 tsp Garam Masala
1 tsp Curry Powder
½ tsp Turmeric
2 Limes (Juice and Zest)
1 handful Cilantro
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 pack Wonton Wrappers
Warm Water for sealing the wontons
In a sauté pan, heat the oil and cook onions and jalapeno until tender.
Add in turkey, garlic, and grated ginger.
When cooking this mixture, stir thoroughly so that the meat breaks up into smaller pieces.
Mix in your spices, salt and pepper, lime juice, lime zest, and cilantro.
Put your turkey mixture into the fridge to cool.
Set up your station for assembling your Samosas with your cooled mixture, your wonton wrappers, and a small dish with warm water.
Scoop out a small amount of meat mixture (about a teaspoon) onto the wonton wrapper.
With your finger, lightly wet two sides of the wonton
Prepare baking sheet with cooking spray, as well as top of wontons, and bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes, flipping half way through.
If your mixture is a little bit wet, let it drain for a few minutes before you put it into the wonton wrappers.
If your mixture is a bit chunkier, making it harder to seal wontons, take a potato masher and break them up!
For an easy way to handle wonton wrappers. Take the stack that comes out of the package. With one hand on the bottom, place the knuckles of your other hand on top and twist, which separates all of the wrappers, and makes life much easier!
If you have parchment paper or stone wear, use this to bake as they can stick to the pan!
These are great with a dip! I love making a quick dip with sour cream, dill, garlic powder, cayenne, S and P, and grated cucumber. Adds an extra layer of tasty!
Freeze on a tray and then put in Ziploc bag, they can be popped in the oven from frozen!
