I don’t know about you but I get a Chinese take out craving every once and a while. Making your own take out probably takes less time than if you ordered it from your favourite joint and have way less waist-line busters. A quick and easy stir-fried beef dish is a great thing to have in your arsenal because you can change the protein, add any extra vegetables you like. Serve with rice or noodles or just eat it by itself. Enjoy the fresh orangey taste of this delectable beef dish!
1 Package Stir Fry Beef, fat trimmed (3/4-1 lb)
2 tbsp Corn Starch
3 medium Oranges, zest, juice of two oranges, segments of the third
½ cup Low-Sodium Broth
2 tbsp Reduced-Sodium Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Sugar
1/4-1/2 tsp Chili Flakes
1.5 tbsp Canola Oil
1 tbsp Ginger
1 clove Garlic
2 large handfuls Green Beans
3-4 Green Onions for garnish
Zest oranges, juice two of them, and segment the third.
Mix beef with 1 tbsp cornstarch and orange rind, toss to coat, and set aside.
Mix remaining 1 tbsp, the broth, orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, and chili flakes.
Heat a large non-stick skillet, or a wok, add in 2 tsp oil, add in beef, cook through 2-3 minutes. Transfering to a plate.
Add the remaining 2 tsp of oil, add ginger. Add green beans, peppers, and garlic and sautee until crisp but tender 2-3 minutes.
Add in sauce mixture, stirring until it boils and thickens.
Add beef back in with orange segments and stir until thoroughly coated with sauce.
Serve with rice and green onions to garnish!
–Remember that this is your recipe, add the veggies that you want! Any kind of peppers, carrots, beans, even zucchini or celery would be fantastic.
-Because this cooks so fast, make sure that you have all of your prep work done first and you will be ready to go!
-Freeze your ginger and grate, much easier to work with!
